Know your timeline
Determine when to start planning
Because heating and cooling equipment typically doesn’t last much longer than 15 years, timing matters.

Before you need to replace your roof top unit (RTU), air conditioning (AC) if it exists, or your furnace, whichever comes first; and/or
When you want to decarbonize, renovate, or add air conditioning (if it doesn’t already exist) to your building.

Ask your service provider or check the equipment age – the installation or construction dates are often posted on the unit.

Start planning now. Equipment may fail sooner than expected, and avoiding a rush decision when equipment does fail can be highly valuable.
